Just added a World Cup 2010 blog in the Check These section. Anyone else planning on going? I think it would be phenomenal, we are talking next level stuff here. By the way the US team should be competetive. Notice many players making international waves. Landon Donavan, Clint Dempsey, and of course my favorite young States star, Jozy Altidore. As reported in an article in that blog, Jozy is staying at Villareal near the the top of the Spanish League for the rest of the season after he was rumored to be moving on loan. He has been playing well as of late and is clearly needed on a team decimated by injury in attack. Keep an eye on this kid (hard to miss with those sunshine colored kits(that's uniform for the soccer illiterate)).

Video: Raheem DeVaughn t. Wale, Ms. Kim, Big G, Hazel, King Pin Slim & Duce Your Highness - Every Given Sunday (Sean Taylor Tribute)

It is kind of cheesy, but heartfelt, an ode to young man with talent who left us too soon. A whole lotta DC people in there as well.

Nate and Myself are Back........

I would say "with a vengance", but I think that might be a lie, however I will definitely say "with some quality material". Below is a link for the album release from Nature (aka OG member of the The Firm, Queens bridge finest, Nas' boy, wait... not Nas' boy and so on) Anyway this is by no means the classic that his first release, 4 All Seasons (one of my favorite albums of that era) was but it is well done and accentuates Nate's ability to fiddle with vocab, couple of guest spots as well.

As for myself, a lot is going on in the world, especially since I have stopped keeping up with the Flying Squirrel, but I going to make an attempt at coming back, we have a new president, history has been made, the NFL is heating up, the NBA has started, not too mention I love Soccer all the sudden.....tons of music releases for the 4th quarter, should be interesting....Have you ever seen a flying squirrel go from tree to tree, it's quite a phenomenon, I must say. Nature link below.

Can it Be?

Murs always does well with video, no exception here even though its his first major label effort.

Slim went solo, what happened to room 112 where the players dwell?

It's October, wake up the 360

NBA 2K9 Vs. NBA Live 09

It's October and that means this month I will spend money on my Xbox 360. My favorite games over the last few years have been NBA and FIFA games. I have been back and forth with basketball games between the 2K series and the Live series. Live takes me back to Sega Genesis and the introduction of signature moves and all that, but once Dreamcast hit, 2K it was, video basketball was suddenly basketball. I wavered a couple times since, but its been the 2K series for the last couple years, it's just more solid. The 2K9 version looks amazing and some bugs have been corrected as well. Live just seems too choppy, there are awkward movements and it seems like everyone is on ice, idk. Watch the trailer for both and you decide.

FIFA 09 VS Pro Evolution Soccer 09

The last couple of years I have gone back and forth with this series. Pro Evo has great gameplay and smooth animation, but FIFA had all the rights and money to back it. When the next gen systems came out, Pro Evo was left behind a little bit, the 2008 version was lacking any major improvements from the 07 version for PS2 and OG Xbox. This year they have tried to catch up and they also now are able to use licensed kits and team names, so while I picked up FIFA last year, because it seemed logical, this year may be a decision, here is a trailer comparing the 2. I'm not gonna lie, FIFA looks a lil better, maybe it's jus the terrible AI in the highlight or the fact that Keane is like 10 yards offside in his second goal. Plus, how could they use Man U and Liverpool for their demo, really, no City? I guess I might have to support the EA machine. Italia!

This is a Phenomenal Idea

I can't believe I never watched this show....I caught this season's premier and now I'm checkin for it

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia aparently

Diddy is Scurrrrred

Im laughing right now, maybe Puff should stop producing reality TV for other people. VOTE OR DIE! No wait, that was last time....nevermind, don't die.

Decision '08: Anyone else voting for Murs?

Murs is a HipHop artist at a time when the word "artist" cannot be used to describe most of the people inhabiting the HipHop industry. He might be a bit of a nerd, but how could you not love a Punchout reference.........check out the album.........
Murs for President

I heard they were back, Jay must have okayed this, prob his idea

Check this deleted scene from Ironman: The Real Tony Starks

Ghostface made a cameo in Ironman, it was just cut. Here is the scene with some nice scenery I might add. You know, when the movie came out in theaters and there was all this buzz, I was wondering where Mr. BulletProof Wallets was.

Roller Coaster weekend man...whoo

It can be difficult being a sports fan. I know how that sounds but just hear me out. As posted last week, there were a lot of things going on. Friday night the Mets were trying to win 2 in a row to keep the pace in the playoff race with the Brewers and maybe put some pressure on the Phils fot the NL east. I almost knew they would blow it, anyone who has seen anything about this team knows they lack that huge red organ in everyone else's chest. Anyway..... I had to watch, like a train wreck, or a roller coaster crash, ha. Also going on is the Uconn football game. For some reason they love to play on Friday nights.
Not that I have much of one, but this kills my social life. I end up staying home watching the Mets do what they do, blow it, and then an entertaining and ultimately satisfying Uconn Football Huskies win to stay undefeated. It wasn't easy and they lost senior quarterback Ty Lorenzen to a broken foot but I was pretty into the game, screaming about penalties with my girl looking at me like (really?). 2 beers later I'm sleeping, but after I set my alarm for 7:30 on a Saturday. Why? A friend is in town and wants to go to the only pub in the area that shows English Premier soccer live. Just picture being at a dark pub at 8am with your first pint in front of you, 20 dudes around you silent, in intense concentration on a games going on half way across the world (I'll get into that later). Skipped breakfast and drank instead. At some point we left only to go back to my boy's house and watch some college football until I pull myself together and go to work.
I make it through my 4-12 shift in a blur, the Mets throwing Santana on 3 days rest in desperation, amazing though, that guy must wonder how he ended up with a bunch so heartless, he doesn't deserve it. Then watching more sports, most of which I deleted from my memory, need to clear space for the next day, Man City at 11am, Mets fight for their playoff lives, needing a win at 1pm, Redskins vs. Cowboys at 4 (this is clearly most important on the agenda to me). Not to mention, following fantasy stats and oh yeah, the whole country is financial crisis, reminds me, I missed the debate, hmmm.
Anyway, up at 10:30 so there is time to make coffee and watch the start of the Man City game at 11. Smooth right? Nope. Man City looks terrible, gets a terrible call against them resulting in a 2-1 deficit that they can't recover from and lose. Robinho, who cost more than the entire Wigan team he was shut down by, looked slow and out of his element. It doesn't help that he took a mid-week trip home to Brazil. I was not happy, just in time to turn on the Mets. I can't even describe what happened with them, I'm sure you know, every news organization in the country had something to say, so I will just skip that, but just know, at this point I am questioning why I watch or pull for a team at all, why care? DO they? Didn't look like it the last 3 weeks.
Just as I'm about to implode the Redskins game is starting on National TV. It is 0-0 and I am back, hopeful and screaming at every call and Skin's first down. The Skins look great in the first half, annoying TO, stopping the Barberian (Marion Barber) and looking sharp on Offense. The second proves to be much closer, but I never get the feeling you get watching the Mets after the 7th inning in a game they need, reminds me of some ungodly stomach illness. They play tough, sustain having 2 touchdowns called back on questionable calls, pick off Romo and get lucky an onside kick carums out of bounds and win in Dallas. This is huge and I'm back being a fan, denouncing baseball season and calling every Cowboys fan I can, anticipating TO's waterworks.(which immediately followed the game)
The weekend is finally over and I can breathe, almost, Monday Night Football..........Gotta watch, I have the Steelers D and Derek Mason on my fantasy team...............

P.S. Did I mention Notre Dame won? Oh yeah, I am Irish fan since Lou Holtz was sane. I don't tell a lot of people that now, they beat Purdue though and Charlie didn't get hurt or miss any meals. Yes!

My Morning Jacket - Touch Me I'm Going to Scream found via kanYe West's Blog

Cool video.....good band, good song

Big Weekend Coming up for Team Flying Squirrel....

First and foremost, the Skins take on the Boys at 4pm Sunday. This is a huge divisional game early in the season. Take away all the history and looking at the NFC East, every game is important. It is also huge for the Skins because they play at Dallas and immediately follow at Philly. Tough task, but that is life in the NFC East....The Skins will also be without Jason Taylor, who could have lost his leg apparently, nice....So, some veterans are going to have to step up on the ends. I am looking forward to it though.....Romo has been mistake prone...T.O. looks like he about to pull a Jerry Mcguire any minute and Wade Phillips might just eat Jerry Jones and not even realize it. It is going to be sad watching the game and not waiting to see Sean Taylor (RIP) try to cave T.O.'s chest in. Hopefully Landry will be able to step up. Go Skins!

The F'n Metropolitans....

They finally got a dramatic win last night to keep pace, but the Mets are desparately trying to recreate the collapse of last year, I was at Shea Wednesday night, and let me tell you, even 12 beers deep you could feel the tightness in the crowd, the players, the looming Citi Field even looked nervous...maybe that was just my stomach after eating a sausage and peppers.....M E T S

Uconn goes to Louisville to try to stay unbeaten and gain some respect. I was watching some terrible ESPN show the other day and they were discussing the Heisman race when a fan email was read, the fan was asking why Donald Brown is not a Heisman canidate. So it is safe to say that Uconn Football fans are still very delusional, myself included. So when I say this might be the victory to boost the Huskies to winning a second consecutive Big East title (at least a share) keep that in mind. Uconn! Huskies!, Huskies! Uconn! PS. Check out the Uconn Football blog I added, this guys clearly gets paid, but its cool..

Man City baby.....Coming off a huge 6 to nil win against Portsmouth last weekend the Blues immediately went and lost in PK's (thats penalty kicks for the soccer illiterate) to a team that is basically one of the worst JV teams in England....... right. They didn't play their best players, but still, not good, money can't buy everything...I am excited though and Robinho and SWP are looking like the type of players to provide for excitement. They get Michael Johnson back from injury and they go and play at Wigan Athletic on Sunday....check out the Man City blog I added, those English blokes....I tell ya

Decision '08.......Yeah I went there......

I am aware this is a doctored video...but I was watching this episode of 60 minutes, Yes, people under 60 watch that show.....and I was undecided before, granted I was leaning toward Barack, but this solidified it, take away the cut ins and music and listen to what this guy is saying.....The comment at 1 minute is what set me off....think about it....

Here is the Obama section....He doesn't have all the answers either....but

Real HipHop.......Vol. 1

This post is a tribute to HipHop music...No, I am not talking about Lil Wayne or Jay-z or any body young or 'lil. I posted this track because it is an example of where HipHop could have went in the mainstream, but just did not. There are still artists making art out there..Skyzoo is one of them, 9th Wonder is another. This track is off an EP collaboration of the two. It's called Cloud 9: The 3 day High, because it was supposedly done in 3 days........At one point Sky asks imagine if we had 3 months......hmm.........Anyway, sit back and listen

Paris, Tokyo.....finally

After a delay unprecedented in remix history, the Paris, Tokyo remix is here, it features Pharrell, Q-Tip and Sarah Greene as promised. I like it, mostly because there is a new Lupe Verse to dissect, but I thought the idea of a remix was to keep the buzz going on a hot song. Hmm......anyway, months later......here you go........Props to the LupEnd blog, Nahright.

Have you become a Genius yet?

If you haven't downloaded the new version of itunes, you might want to. You might have heard, but they added a new feature called the Genius. It basically looks through you library and figures out what you like. You can take any song from your library (granted iTunes can register the song) and Genius can create a playlist based on that song. You get some pretty interesting mixes. Here are 2 examples, one using Hold Steady (modern Rock) and the other with the Kanye West produced "Good to You" by Talib Kweli.

Throwback Joint....Don't act like you don't know.....

Dont' know why, but the memory of this song came up the other day, enjoy below!

Good News for CIty...........

Michael Johnson has signed a new five-year deal at Manchester City that will keep him at Eastlands until 2013.
The 20-year-old England Under-21 international midfielder has ended months of speculation that he may be set to leave the club.

Thought this might not happen, they needed to lock up their own young talent. He could be really nice with some development.

ummm......wow...Sorry Ms. Palin

Yes, that's the dude from the white rapper show. This is just crazy...........and I never intended to listen to anything from this guy, I don't even know what to say. Track is below. Shout to Nahright.com.

The Uconn Football Huskies.......Gettin it Done

Uconn won conviningly to say the least at the Wrench on Saturday. Beating Virginia 45-10. Granted Virginia is down this year (were they ever really up?) but the Big East is gonna be down this year as well........Hmm, chance for the Huskies. Donald Brown is a beast and the D is stingy, it should be interesting, probably not as interesting as tailgating outside the Wrench in the airfield, but you know.......

Big Win for the Skins in Week 2...........and then........

Huge comeback win for the Skins'. J. Campbell looked 100 times more comfortable in the pocket, J. Taylor looking a lil more limber and offense looked like it should.......let's keep it going againt the Cardinals.........The rookie Horton looked good in the secondary, but he will really be tested this week against the ageless Warner and 2 of the best recievers in the game.
Oh yeah, I'm sure you heard about Chris Cooley too, showing off his private collection. Wouldn't you think it would be the opposite of frontal though, I mean his name is Coo...Ok, bad joke.....check the website's response.....it's a great site by the way....

Nickel NIne Vs. Regular Joe? What.........?

Just in time for the release of Royce Da 5'9"s Bar Exam 2, the much anticipated mixtape, there might be beef brewing between 2 of the nicest MC's in the game (in my opinion). Royce threw out a shot in Done Talkin' on that tape. Joey immediately responded and then Royce did again within hours, sort of backing down, Video is everywhere. It's almost like booking a heavy weight fight though, you don't really know what you will get, you might get dissapointed, but you know you wanna watch. This beef may have started almost a year ago when both MC's were supposed to be SOB's in NYC, but Joey didn't show and Royce was left to battle Mistah Fab. According to some in attendance, Royce got served, ha. I don't buy it, but check it on youtube if you need to.

Hilarious Clip from hilarious Show

If you don't watch 30 rock, you need to. Check this clip of Alec Baldwin and Tracey Morgan.....just classic stuff. The counselor is great too.

I'm a Blue

So one of my best friends, caught up in World Cup 2006 fever suggested a bunch of us start following soccer (futbol actually). We decided the English Premier League would be the way to go. We all picked squads and mine is the Manchester City Blues squad. You might think that the Blues is a corny name, and you might be right. But the nicknames arent important over there apparently, at least not the way we think of it, with logos all over the place, as you might know, soccer jerseys are typically emblazened wit sponsors (it's always about the money). It has proven to be interesting and I have to say that I am just as much involved with my futbol club as I am with all my favorite teams over here, even with the Mets in the playoff hunt, the Redskins in their second game of the new NFL season and Uconn football being................okay, that doesn't count, but I was straight up excited to see Man City take on perennial EPL powerhouse Chelsea this morning. Man city is fresh off signing brilliant Brazilian striker Robinho (check the link below) right under the noses of Chelsea, In fact Chelsea had jerseys on sale in expectation of signing the young phenom. This is serious Johnny Drama type stuff right here, including Robinho mistakingly calling Man City the wrong name and then being called out by Pele. Unfortunately City couldn't come up with the Victory! Ok, that was bad, but the good news is that Robinho scored a well-hit free kick and there is hope in Manchester on the blue side. Granted all the excitement comes from a shady business deal that includes a financial takeover by a multi trillionaire from the middle east..............Is there anything else I didn't mention? Oh yeah, Tom Brady.....Brett Favre..........

Check out the Robinho compilation

Flying Squirrel????

This name of this blog is a total shoutout to Wale (DC's Finest) and his Mixtape About Nothing.......if you don't know what I am talking about, check it out and listen to track 14 http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/mixtape/id.438/title.wale-the-mixtape-about-nothing It is just hilarious and sums up some of the problems with the way we receive hiphop music these days........ I am just doing this to get out some thoughts and share what I think is meaningful in the world of music, sport, LIFE, and maybe even some politics, and to give out some mixtapes that you can actually listen to.............and not throw away music btw, so check it out, if you like, hang around, I am new though, so alota stuff I am sure I will have to borrow, but it's all about spreading the good word........right? Wale, one question.....Why did you have to start a classic mixtape with the currently most overused word in the game...okay, it was months ago.....you didn't know.....or did you?

First mixtape Installment TheSwitchTape

Lupe Fiasco is one of my favorite MCs, he is definitely flying squirrel material, I will explain in the next post, I promise....This is a mixtape that is tribute to much of the material that has surfaced since the classic, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool as it is to the ability of Lupe to switch it up, whether it be flow, material or style, its also an ode to one of my favorite tracks of his from an early mixtape (you will figure it out).........I have to shoutout all those currently existing blogs like Nahright, Dajaz1, Fake Shore Drive and of course sites like hiphopdx.com for providing me with all this material....also shout to mattbooy for the pics used in the cover art that i put together, I know its rather simple. Anyway, check out the mixtape, its good listening I think.
